DESERT 4X4 EXCURSION IN MERZOUGA

MERZOUGA GUIDED 4X4 HALF-DAY TOUR

This day trip is perfect if you arrive in Merzouga by bus or with your camper and you like to make the most of your stay in the desert city.

Enjoy a half-day guided 4x4 adventure in Merzouga and see many of the unique places around this beautiful city such as the El Khamlia village, the famous market and the sijilmassa ruins amongst many others.

DETAILED PROGRAM:

Start your adventure in a 4x4 and set out to see the different faces of desert dunes with its black volcanic rocks, passing through small villages, where you will stop to drink mint tea with a Berber family in their tent, along the road used by the Paris Dakar rally. You will then reach a cave where you can discover how the local people extract the fossils from the heart of the earth. You will stop also to listen to some Saharan Music in El Khamlia village. You will walk little bit in the oasis and then lunch will be in a typical restaurant in Rissani with great local food ( vegetarian option available ). After lunch you will visit the town of Rissani, the first capital of dynasty alouite, including some historical Kasbahs and the famous market, the Sijilmassa ruins before heading back to your hotel in the end of the afternoon.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

Cross desert plateaus far away from the concrete road and visit a Berber family in their tent for lunch. You can explore how they live in their tents with their goats, sheep and working donkeys. Learn how to prepare a Berber Pizza on the fire and enjoy the meal at their home.
